Validate Number of Characters in Text Box

If you type more than 10 words into the text box below and click submit you will get a message telling you to limit your entry to 50 characters. The number of characters permitted is configurable.

This type of script in very useful on forms. We use a number of validation scripts to be sure that data entered into fields on forms meet requirements before submitting it to the database, like:

• Validate email address
• Validate that required fields are not empty
• Validate no special characters are in the fields
